God's Gun

A gang of outlaws led by Sam Clayton turns the Texas border town of Juno City into its base and terrorizes the residents. When the town's priest, Father John, is killed after standing up to the gang, a young parishioner named Johnny sets out to find the priest's brother, a retired gunfighter known as Lewis, hoping he can restore order and rescue Johnny's mother from the bandits. Johnny finds Lewis near the Mexican border, and the resemblance to the dead priest is unmistakable.

This 1976 Italian and Israeli western stars Lee Van Cleef in the dual role of Father John and Lewis, with Jack Palance as Sam Clayton, Richard Boone as the sheriff, Sybil Danning as Jenny and Leif Garrett as Johnny. Gianfranco Parolini directed and co-wrote the screenplay with John Fonseca, and the producers were Irwin Yablans, Yoram Globus and Menahem Golan. Parolini had already built a following with the Sabata series of westerns, and this was the fourth western he had directed, arriving after Return of Sabata in 1971.

The film runs 97 minutes. It holds a rating of 5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 1,900 votes, and the same rating on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes, so the two audiences agree closely on the film's merits.
