Short description
Nathalie Kerr, a young Frenchwoman, loses her husband in an accident. In the years that follow, she devotes herself to her work and keeps her distance from those around her. Then, without any clear reason, she kisses Markus Lundell, a Swedish co-worker on her team who has never had much luck with women but who is kind and gentle. The kiss startles Markus and he falls for her, yet Nathalie wants to act as though nothing happened. Their improbable connection draws disapproval from other colleagues as the two find their way toward each other.
Delicacy is a French comedy, drama and romance directed by David Foenkinos and Stéphane Foenkinos, and it was their first feature together. David Foenkinos also wrote the screenplay. Audrey Tautou plays Nathalie, with François Damiens as Markus, and Mélanie Bernier, Joséphine de Meaux, Pio Marmaï and Bruno Todeschini in supporting roles. The film runs 108 minutes and was released in December 2011, taking about 10 million dollars worldwide.
On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.4 out of 10 from 484 votes, while film critics give it 6 out of 10 from 70 reviews, placing the two roughly in line with each other. The directing pair went on to make Fantasies in 2021, and Stéphane Foenkinos directed Colored in 2023.
