A Tale of Love and Desire

A Tale of Love and Desire is a romantic drama centered on Ahmed, an eighteen-year-old student of Algerian descent living in the Paris suburbs. After meeting Farah, an energetic young woman who recently arrived from Tunis, Ahmed becomes deeply enamored with her. As he explores a previously unknown body of erotic and sensual Arabic literature, he struggles to manage the intense desire he feels for Farah.

The film was written and directed by Leyla Bouzid and marks the first of two films she has directed, preceding her 2026 work, In a Whisper. The movie stars Sami Outalbali and Zbeida Belhajamor in the lead roles, supported by a credited cast of 36 actors including Diong-Kéba Tacu and Aurélia Petit.
