Step Up 2: The Streets

Step Up 2: The Streets follows Andie West, a street dancer who is sent to the Maryland School of the Arts, where she struggles to balance her new life with the friends and crew she left behind. There she meets Chase Collins, a talented student from a very different background who wants to break away from the school's classical traditions. The two join forces to assemble a crew of outsiders and enter an underground dance competition in Baltimore called The Streets.

The film is the first feature directed by Jon M. Chu, released in 2008 and followed by Step Up 3D in 2010. Briana Evigan plays Andie, with Robert Hoffman as Chase, Will Kemp as Blake Collins, Cassie Ventura as Sophie Donovan, Adam Sevani as Moose and Black Thomas as Tuck. Duane Adler, who wrote the original Step Up, shares screenplay credit with Toni Ann Johnson and Karen Barna, and Adam Shankman is among the producers.

Made for about 22 million dollars, the film took in roughly 151 million worldwide, a strong return that helped establish the series as an ongoing franchise. On IMDb it holds 6.2 from around 94,000 votes, while on TMDB it rates 6.7 from about 2,461 votes. The critics' rating stands at 5 out of 10 from 63 reviews, below the audience scores at both sites.
