Take This Waltz

Take This Waltz centres on Margot, a woman in her late twenties living in Toronto with her husband Lou, a good-natured and successful cookbook author. Their marriage is comfortable and affectionate, but when Margot meets Daniel, an artist, the attraction between them is immediate and difficult to dismiss. She soon discovers that Daniel has moved into a house just across the street, turning a chance encounter into an ongoing proximity that unsettles her assumptions about her life and her marriage.

The film is Sarah Polley's second directorial credit, following her debut and preceding Women Talking, and she also wrote and produced it. Michelle Williams plays Margot, with Seth Rogen as Lou and Luke Kirby as Daniel, and the cast includes Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Podemski and Diane D'Aquila, among 28 credited performers. It is a co-production involving Spain, Canada, France and Japan, and it runs 116 minutes.

Take This Waltz took about 5 million dollars worldwide. Audiences are divided on it: on IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from roughly 31,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4/10 from around 409 votes. A critics' rating of 7/10 from 139 reviews places it somewhat above those audience scores, suggesting reviewers responded to it more warmly than general viewers did.
