Jack Mimoun & the Secrets of Val Verde
Short description
Jack Mimoun is a famous adventurer and television personality who rose to fame after surviving alone on the island of Val Verde. He is recruited by the enigmatic Aurélie Diaz to return to the dangerous location to locate a pirate's legendary sword. Alongside his impulsive manager, Bruno Quézac, and an unstable mercenary named Jean-Marc Bastos, Jack navigates the jungle in search of the treasure.
This adventure comedy was co-directed by Malik Bentalha and Ludovic Colbeau-Justin. It is the second film in Bentalha's directorial timeline, following The Lion and preceding Nothing to Lose. The movie features Malik Bentalha in the lead role, appearing alongside Joséphine Japy, Jérôme Commandeur, François Damiens, Benoît Magimel, and Niels Dubost.
The production, funded by Pathé and Mandarin Cinéma, had a budget of 14 million USD but earned 5 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception was mixed, with the film receiving a rating of 5.4/10 on IMDb from 1,200 votes and a 5.3/10 on TMDB from 233 votes.

- Filming was supposed to begin in 2020, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Filming began in Thailand and Paris in the summer of 2021, however, upon arriving in Thailand, the filmmakers were forced to spend 15 days in quarantine and only begin filming after that. Director, screenwriter, and lead actor Malik Bentalha decided that this was actually for the better, as the actors and crew involved in the film had time to get to know and bond with each other.
- Preparing for filming, Malik Bentalha gained 13 kg in weight to better match the image of his character, who had softened after becoming a television star.
