The Eye

Sydney Wells has been blind since a childhood accident and has built a career as a professional violinist in Los Angeles. A cornea transplant offers her the chance to see again, and the operation appears to succeed, though her vision returns blurred and gradually sharpens. What comes with it are disturbing visions she cannot explain: apparitions of people who have died and scenes of disaster that appear to her while she is awake. Unsettled and disbelieved by those around her, she starts looking into where the donated tissue came from.

The film is a horror thriller directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud, following their 2006 debut Them and preceding Moreau's later work, including It Boy and MadS. Sebastian Gutierrez wrote the screenplay, and Jessica Alba plays Sydney, with Alessandro Nivola as her doctor, Parker Posey as her sister Helen, Chloë Grace Moretz, Rade Šerbedžija and Mia Stallard in supporting roles. It was produced by Cruise/Wagner Productions, Lionsgate, Vertigo Entertainment and Paramount Vantage.

Made for about 12 million dollars, it took roughly 58 million dollars worldwide, a return that outweighs its modest cost. On IMDb it holds 5.4 from around 59,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.9 from over a thousand. A critics' rating of 4.3 from 76 reviews places it below the audience scores.
