Now Is Good

Tessa Scott is a teenage girl in England whose leukemia has been declared terminal after years of treatment. Rather than spend her remaining time confined to a hospital, she sets out to experience as much as she can, writing a list of things she wants to do before she dies. Losing her virginity stands at the top of that list, alongside other firsts and transgressions she feels she has been denied. Her best friend Zoey joins her in working through it, while her parents struggle with what is coming. Tessa's plans take an unexpected turn when she becomes involved with Adam, the young man next door.

Dakota Fanning plays Tessa, with Jeremy Irvine as Adam, Kaya Scodelario as Zoey, Olivia Williams and Paddy Considine as her parents, and Edgar Canham as her brother Cal. Ol Parker wrote the screenplay and directed the film, which followed his 2006 debut Imagine Me & You and preceded Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Ticket to Paradise and Office Romance. Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin produced for Blueprint Pictures.

Made for around 5 million dollars, the British production returned roughly 3 million at the worldwide box office. Audiences have received it relatively warmly: it rates 7 out of 10 on IMDb across some 36,000 votes and 7.3 out of 10 on TMDB from a smaller pool of just over a thousand. A critics' rating of 5.2 out of 10 from 27 reviews sits well below those audience scores.
