The Forger

Set in Berlin in 1942, this historical drama follows Cioma Schönhaus, a 21-year-old Jewish man determined to maintain his optimism despite the Nazi occupation. To avoid deportation and assist others, Cioma uses his skill for forgery to create fake passports and documents. By assuming new identities and working with a lawyer to save fellow citizens, he manages to hide in plain sight, though his activities increasingly put him at risk.

The film was written and directed by Maggie Peren, marking her second directorial effort after Special Escort. The cast is led by Louis Hofmann, with Jonathan Berlin, Luna Wedler, Nina Gummich, Marc Limpach, and André Jung in supporting roles, alongside a total of 20 credited actors. This production was a collaboration between Germany and Luxembourg, involving ZDF, ARTE, Network Movie, and Amour Fou Luxembourg.
