The Battle at Lake Changjin II: Water Gate Bridge continues the story of the Chinese People's Volunteers during the Korean War in 1950. Commander Wu Qianli and his brother Wu Wanli, soldiers of the 7th Infantry Company, are given a new mission: to take a vital bridge at Funchilin Pass, a crossing that matters for the withdrawal of American forces. The company faces the task in severe winter conditions, and the film follows the unit through a series of confrontations over control of the bridge.
The film is a sequel to The Battle at Lake Changjin and is directed by Chen Kaige, Tsui Hark and Dante Lam, with a screenplay by Huang Jianxin and Lan Xiaolong. It was the tenth of thirteen films Chen Kaige has directed in chronological order, the twenty-ninth of thirty-one for Tsui Hark, and came directly after the first part in Dante Lam's directorial filmography. The cast includes Wu Jing, Jackson Yee, Zhu Yawen, Jerry Lee, Elvis Han and Zhang Hanyu, among forty-three credited performers.
Released in February 2022, the film had a budget of 100 million US dollars and grossed 627 million US dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 from around 1,700 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.3 from roughly 98 votes.
