Ralphie Parker, now an adult with a family of his own, brings his wife and children back to the house on Cleveland Street where he grew up, hoping to give them a Christmas as memorable as the ones he knew as a boy. Reuniting with old friends and his mother, who has recently been widowed, he finds that recreating the past means coming to terms with the present and with the memory of his late father.
Peter Billingsley returns to the role he originated as a child and also serves as a producer, alongside Vince Vaughn and Cale Boyter. Erinn Hayes plays his wife Sandy, while Julie Hagerty appears as Mrs. Parker. Ian Petrella, Scott Schwartz and R.D. Robb reprise their childhood roles as Randy, Flick and Schwartz, giving the film a direct link to the 1983 original it continues. Clay Kaytis directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Nick Schenk. It is Kaytis's fifth feature as director, following The Angry Birds Movie, The Christmas Chronicles, and two Snoopy Presents specials, placing it at the end of a run of family-oriented films he made between 2016 and 2022.
The film runs 102 minutes and was released in December 2022. On IMDb it holds a 6.7 rating from around 22,000 votes, a solid showing for a holiday sequel, while on TMDB its 6.3 from a much smaller base of 173 votes mirrors the critics' rating of 6.3 from 48 reviews.
