Civil War

Set in a near-future United States torn apart by civil war, Civil War follows a group of journalists as they travel toward Washington, D.C. The country is divided, with secessionist forces closing in on the capital, and the president has barricaded himself in the White House. A seasoned war correspondent and her colleagues, joined by an older veteran reporter and a young photographer, make the dangerous road journey from New York in hopes of reaching the capital and interviewing the president before the opposing armies do. What they encounter along the way tests their professional resolve as they try to document events while staying alive.

Alex Garland wrote and directed the film, his fifth feature after Dredd, Ex Machina, Annihilation and Men, and it was produced by Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich and Gregory Goodman. Kirsten Dunst leads as Lee, with Wagner Moura as Joel, Cailee Spaeny as Jessie, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Sammy and Nick Offerman as the President, among a credited cast of 69 and a crew of 408. Made for a budget of 50 million dollars, it grossed 127 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7 out of 10 from around 265,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.8 out of 10 from roughly 4,600 votes. A critics' rating of 7.5 out of 10 from 409 reviews places it above the audience scores.
