Hollow Man

Hollow Man centres on Sebastian Caine, a gifted but arrogant scientist leading a research team working on a way to make living things invisible. Having succeeded with animals, he is determined to take the project further and test the process on a human being, and he chooses himself as the subject. The procedure works, but reversing it proves far harder than expected, and the experiment slips out of his colleagues' control as Caine's behaviour turns increasingly erratic and threatening.

Paul Verhoeven directed the film, the twelfth of the sixteen features he has made, following Starship Troopers in 1997 and preceding Black Book in 2006. Andrew W. Marlowe wrote the screenplay, and Douglas Wick and Alan Marshall produced. Kevin Bacon plays Caine, with Elisabeth Shue as Linda McKay, Josh Brolin as Matthew Kensington, Kim Dickens, Greg Grunberg and Joey Slotnick among the supporting cast. The production involved 25 credited cast members and 152 credited crew.

Released in August 2000, the film cost about 95 million dollars to make and took roughly 190 million dollars worldwide, a solid commercial result. On IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from around 146,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from about 2,930 votes. A critics' rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 118 reviews places it below the audience scores.
