Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose

Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose is a British-American comedy mystery set in 1935. Nandor Fodor, a Hungarian-American parapsychologist, travels to the Isle of Man to look into a case reported by the Irving family. The Irvings, an ordinary British household, claim that a mysterious creature has been making contact with them at their farm: a talking mongoose they call Gef, pronounced "Jeff." Fodor begins his own inquiry into the affair, and as he pursues the truth behind the family's story, a web of hidden motives comes to light and suspicion spreads among those involved.

Adam Sigal directed and wrote the screenplay, following his earlier feature Stakeout, released in 2019. Simon Pegg plays Fodor, with Minnie Driver as Anne, Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Harry Price, and Neil Gaiman providing the voice of Gef. Ruth Connell and Tim Downie appear as Mrs. and Mr. Irving. The film runs 96 minutes.

It received limited theatrical release in September 2023. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4 from roughly 3,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4 from a much smaller pool of about 59 votes; the film critics' rating, drawn from 34 reviews, stands at 5.2. These figures place the film's critical and audience assessments close together, with neither group rating it strongly.
