Goal II: Living the Dream

Goal II: Living the Dream continues the story of Santiago Munez, a Mexican footballer from Los Angeles who has moved from Newcastle United to Real Madrid. The transfer brings him money, fame and the chance to play alongside the stars of the Spanish club, but it also tests his relationships. He is reunited with Gavin Harris, and the two must compete for a place in the team, while his fiancée Roz stays behind in England because of her nursing career. Away from home, Santiago has to work out what matters to him and whether he can hold on to the people and loyalties that carried him this far.

The film is a drama directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the second of the thirteen features he has directed in chronological order, following House of Wax and preceding Orphan. Adrian Butchart, Terry Loane and Mike Jefferies wrote the screenplay, and Mark Huffam, Jonathan Harris and Mike Jefferies produced. Kuno Becker leads the cast as Santiago, with Stephen Dillane, Anna Friel, Alessandro Nivola, Elizabeth Peña and Jorge Jurado among the fifty credited performers.

Released in 2007, the film had a budget of about 10 million USD and took roughly 8 million USD worldwide, so it did not recover its costs at the box office. It holds a rating of 6 out of 10 on TMDB from 716 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 4.8 out of 10 from 18 reviews, lower than the audience score.
