Nick Persons and Suzanne have married, and Nick moves his new wife and her two children, Lindsey and Kevin, out of the city to a quiet suburban house. The plan is a calmer life with more room for the family, but the house needs serious renovation work. Nick hires a contractor named Chuck Mitchell Jr., whose odd ideas about the job and relaxed approach to business turn the project into an ongoing ordeal. Chuck's growing closeness with Suzanne and the kids only adds to Nick's frustration.
Are We Done Yet? is a 2007 American family comedy directed by Steve Carr, his sixth feature after Next Friday, Dr. Dolittle 2, Daddy Day Care and Rebound, and before Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Hank Nelken, J. David Stem and David N. Weiss wrote the screenplay, and Ice Cube produced and stars as Nick Persons, with Nia Long as Suzanne, John C. McGinley as Chuck, and Aleisha Allen and Philip Bolden as the children.
The film took about 58 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 4.4/10 from around 24,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.8/10 from roughly 700 votes, so the audience scores sit at a modest level with the smaller TMDB sample somewhat more favorable. A critics' rating of 3.4/10 from 90 reviews places the reviews below both audience scores.
