Welcome

Welcome is a 2007 Indian comedy that follows Rajiv, a well-mannered young man living with his uncle, Dr. Ghungroo, and aunt. The doctor wants his nephew married and insists the bride come from a respectable family, rejecting every match he finds unsuitable. Rajiv then falls for Sanjana, a young woman from South Africa. Unknown to him, Sanjana is the sister of Uday Shetty, a Dubai-based crime figure. Uday and his associate Sagar Pandey pressure Dr. Ghungroo into agreeing to the union through blackmail, since Sanjana's criminal family has frightened off other suitors. As the formal engagement approaches, Rajiv discovers the woman he loves and the arranged bride are the same person, and the wedding goes ahead amid comical complications.

Directed by Anees Bazmee, who wrote the screenplay with Rajeev Kaul, the film followed his 2006 release Sandwich and preceded Welcome Back (2015), which he also directed. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif play Rajiv and Sanjana, with Nana Patekar as Uday Shetty, Anil Kapoor as Majnu Bhai, Paresh Rawal as Dr. Ghungroo and Supriya Karnik as Payal Ghungroo. The cast runs to 21 credited names. It was produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwala.

On IMDb the film holds 7.2 from around 29,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from roughly 186 votes, a wider and steadier audience score than the smaller TMDB sample suggests. Its worldwide box office came to about 1 million dollars.
