He's Just Not That Into You

He's Just Not That Into You is an ensemble romantic comedy-drama set in Baltimore. It follows several intertwined stories about men and women who misread each other's signals. Gigi keeps mistaking friendly behavior for romantic interest and obsesses over why men do not call. Beth has been with Neil for years and wants marriage, while Janine's marriage has settled into dull routine. Mary navigates dating in a world of technology and voicemail, and Conor finds himself caught between women. A mutual acquaintance begins explaining to Gigi how men actually behave, which forces her to reconsider her assumptions.

The film was directed by Ken Kwapis, whose earlier credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and License to Wed, and who would go on to direct Big Miracle and A Walk in the Woods. Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein wrote the screenplay, and Nancy Juvonen produced. The large cast includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly and Bradley Cooper, among 83 credited performers.

Released in February 2009, the film cost about 40 million dollars and took roughly 179 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. Audiences received it moderately: on IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from about 194,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 out of 10 from around 4,100 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.4 out of 10 from 166 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores.
