The Rocker

In the 1980s, drummer Robert "Fish" Fishman is dropped from his band Vesuvius just as it is on the verge of major success. Twenty years later he has settled into an ordinary job and put his rock dreams behind him. When he learns that the high school band led by his nephew Matt needs a drummer, he talks his way in, despite being roughly twice the age of the other members. The group, A.D.D., becomes a popular act online and heads out on a first tour, giving Fish a chance at the stardom he once expected.

Peter Cattaneo directed the film, which followed his 1997 hit The Full Monty and came before Military Wives and The Penguin Lessons. Wallace Wolodarsky and Maya Forbes wrote the screenplay, Shawn Levy produced, and Rainn Wilson leads the cast as Fish. Christina Applegate, Teddy Geiger, Josh Gad, Emma Stone and Jeff Garlin also appear among the fifty credited cast members.

Released in August 2008, the comedy runs 102 minutes. Made for about 15 million dollars, it earned roughly 9 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.1 rating from 652 votes, while its critics' score is 5.2 from 122 reviews, a slightly lower figure than the audience result.
