Lemonade Mouth

Five students at Mesa High School meet while serving detention and discover a shared interest in music. Olivia, Stella, Wen, Mohini and Charlie come from different backgrounds and have little in common at first, but playing together gives them a sense of purpose. They form a band called Lemonade Mouth, encouraged by a teacher who hears them perform. Their ambitions put them at odds with Mudslide Crush, the school's established rock group, and with Principal Stanley Brenigan, who disapproves of their music. Each member also faces difficulties at school and at home, and the group's efforts to be heard become a way of standing up for themselves.

The film is based on Mark Peter Hughes's novel of the same name. Patricia Riggen directed it, placing it second in the chronological list of her features, between Under the Same Moon and Girl in Progress. April Blair wrote the screenplay, Matias Alvarez produced, and the cast includes Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott, Blake Michael and Christopher McDonald, among 45 credited performers.

Released in 2011, the film runs 113 minutes and comes from Martin Chase Productions and GWave Productions. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.9 from roughly 23,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 7.4 from about 1,100 votes. Both figures indicate a generally positive response across a large and a much smaller pool of viewers.
