A series of murdered and mutilated men turns up in New York, and Detective Klaski takes the case. All the victims knew Remy Panos, an entomologist who teaches at an elementary school, though Klaski does not believe she is responsible. His suspicion shifts when government agents appear on the scene, suggesting the killings are connected to something other than an ordinary criminal. What links the deaths is a large insect capable of taking on a human appearance, which begins hunting Remy directly.
Mimic 2 is a 2001 horror, science fiction and thriller film directed by Jean de Segonzac from a screenplay by Joel Soisson, who produced with Mike Leahy for Dimension Films and Neo Art & Logic. Alix Koromzay plays Remy, with Bruno Campos as Klaski, Gaven E. Lucas as Sal Aguirre, Will Estes as Nicky, Edward Albert as Darksuit and Jon Polito as Morrie Deaver. It follows the 1997 film Mimic in the series and continues the story of genetically altered insects in the city, running 82 minutes on a budget of about 10 million dollars.
Reception has been modest. On IMDb it holds 4.6 out of 10 from roughly 6,500 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.3 out of 10 from around 253 votes, indicating a small and largely unenthusiastic audience response to the sequel.
