St Trinian's

St Trinian's is a British comedy about a famously unruly girls' school facing financial collapse. The bank is threatening to close the place, and the new education minister, Geoffrey Thwaites, wants it turned into something orderly and respectable. The headmistress, Camilla Fritton, has no intention of giving in, and neither do her pupils, a mixed bunch ranging from goths to sporty types who run the school largely on their own terms. When raising the money honestly looks hopeless, the girls turn to a more ambitious plan involving a valuable painting, hoping the proceeds will keep St Trinian's open. Annabelle Fritton, new to the school after a miserable time at a posher institution, is drawn into the scheme along with her classmates and a few sympathetic teachers.

The film was directed by Oliver Parker and Barnaby Thompson, both of whom also directed its 2009 sequel, St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold. It was written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft, with Thompson producing. Rupert Everett plays Camilla and her brother Carnaby, heading a cast that includes Talulah Riley, Gemma Arterton, Colin Firth, Lena Headey and Jodie Whittaker.

Made for about 14 million dollars, it took roughly 29 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.8 from around 25,000 votes and on TMDB 5.9 from about 500, while critics rated it 4.6 from 41 reviews, noticeably lower than audiences did.
