Eddie

Eddie is a New York limousine driver and a devoted fan of the New York Knicks, whose season is going badly. When the team's new owner, William "Wild Bill" Burgess, launches an honorary coach contest as a publicity stunt, Eddie wins it. The crowds respond well, and Burgess dismisses the coach and installs her in the job, to the surprise of the players and the front office. She takes on a roster of highly paid stars and tries to turn it into a real team, while the owner's plans for the franchise's future put him at odds with the city and its supporters.

Whoopi Goldberg plays Eddie Franklin, with Frank Langella as Burgess, Dennis Farina as John Bailey and Richard Jenkins as Carl Zimmer. Steve Rash directed the comedy, which was written by Eric Champnella, Steve Zacharias and Jeff Buhai and produced by Mark Burg and David Permut. It is the fifth title in the directing career the facts list for Rash, following Can't Buy Me Love, Queens Logic, Son in Law and Good Advice, and it runs 100 minutes.

The film was made for about 30 million US dollars and took in roughly 31 million worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds a 4 out of 10 from 37 critics' reviews, while on TMDB it has a 5.5 out of 10 from 183 votes, so audiences rated it somewhat more kindly than critics did. The credited cast numbers 41.
