Bud Spencer stars as Bulldozer, a former American football player who has left the sport behind and now earns a living as a fisherman. When his boat is damaged and he is left without work, he agrees to coach a group of local young men who have arranged a match against the football team of a nearby United States military base. The soldiers have been throwing their weight around in the area, and the townspeople's team is given little chance against them.
The film was directed by Michele Lupo and released in 1978. It is the first of several collaborations between Lupo and Bud Spencer listed in the director's filmography, followed by The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid, Why Did You Pick On Me?, Buddy Goes West and Bomber. Raimund Harmstorf plays Sergeant Kempfer, with Ottaviano Dell'Acqua, Nando Paone, Enzo Santaniello and Marco Stefanelli among the younger cast members. The screenplay was written by Rainer Brandt, Marcello Fondato and Francesco Scardamaglia, and the production was handled by Horst Wendlandt and Elio Scardamaglia for Rialto Film and Leone Film.
The film holds a rating of 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb from around 6,600 votes, and 6.9 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 356 votes. These scores point to a steady, favorable response from viewers rather than a divisive one, with the two audience samples broadly in agreement.
