Snake in the Eagle's Shadow

Set in China during the Qing dynasty, the story follows Chien Fu, a mistreated orphan who encounters an elderly martial arts expert. The old man is the sole survivor of the Snake Fist style, a school targeted for destruction by the rival Eagle's Claw clan. After Chien Fu helps the master, he becomes his student and learns the secrets of the Snake Fist. The youth proves to be a gifted pupil, eventually integrating his own techniques into the style. This training becomes essential when the leaders of the Eagle's Claw clan discover the master's whereabouts and arrive to eliminate him.

The film was directed by Woo-Ping Yuen, who also co-wrote the screenplay. It is the second of 13 films he directed, following Drunken Master and preceding Tiger Cage. The cast features Jackie Chan in the lead role as Chien Fu, alongside Yuen Siu-Tien and Hwang Jang-Lee. Produced by Seasonal Film Corporation in Hong Kong, the action-comedy has a runtime of 98 minutes. Audience reception has been positive, with a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDb from 14,000 votes and a matching 7.3/10 on TMDB from 375 votes. These viewer scores are higher than the film critics' rating of 6.6/10 based on 5 reviews.
