Thanks for Sharing

Thanks for Sharing is a romantic comedy drama about people dealing with sex addiction and the effect it has on their efforts to build ordinary relationships. Adam has kept his compulsions in check for years when he meets Phoebe, a woman recovering from a serious illness, and begins to consider that he might be ready for something real. Alongside his own progress, he acts as a sponsor to Neil, a newcomer whose behavior has already cost him his job. Neil becomes involved with Dede, who is contending with her own history of dependency. The three of them, and the wider circle of the group they attend, work through a structured recovery program while navigating a city full of temptation.

The film was directed by Stuart Blumberg, who wrote the screenplay with Matt Winston, and it was produced by Leslie Urdang, David Koplan and Dean Vanech. Mark Ruffalo plays Adam, Gwyneth Paltrow plays Phoebe, Tim Robbins plays Mike, Josh Gad plays Neil and the musician Pink, credited under her own name, appears as Dede. The production drew on a credited cast of 34 performers.

Released in September 2013, the film runs 112 minutes and took in roughly 3 million dollars worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.4 from around 30,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of just over 600 votes. A critics' score of 5.6 from 116 reviews places it below both audience measures.
