Addams Family Reunion
Short description
The Addams family learns that Grandpa and Grandma Addams are losing their monstrous traits and becoming steadily more ordinary, a condition Gomez and Morticia are desperate to reverse. Hoping a relative might know a remedy, they gather the extended clan, but the reunion brings its own complications. The television film places the macabre household in an unfamiliar setting and pits its members against the dullness of normal life.
Dave Payne directed the film, his first feature before Reeker, from a screenplay by Rob Kerchner and Scott Sandin, with Mike Elliott producing. Daryl Hannah and Tim Curry lead the cast as Morticia and Gomez, alongside Nicole Fugere as Wednesday, Jerry Messing as Pugsley, Carel Struycken as Lurch and Christopher Hart as Thing.
Released in December 1998, the 86-minute comedy, family, fantasy and horror television movie was produced by Saban Entertainment, Fox Family Films and Warner Home Video. Reception has been weak across the board, with a film critics' rating of 4.3 out of 10 from 262 reviews, alongside audience scores of 3.9 on IMDb from just over five thousand votes and 4.8 on TMDB from around three hundred votes.
What's left behind the scenes
- Karel Ströcken as Larch's butler and Christopher Hart as The Thing are the only actors to appear in all three films (1991, 1993, 1998) of the franchise.
- Christopher Lloyd and Anjelica Huston declined to reprise their roles as Fester Addams and Morticia Addams.
- John Astin, who previously played Gomez, was offered the role of Grandpapa Addams. He eventually played the role in two episodes of the television series "The New Addams Family" (1998-1999).
