Short description
Adam Cassidy is a young employee at a large telecommunications company whose career is jeopardized after he makes a costly mistake. To avoid facing charges, he accepts a deal from the company's president, Nicholas Wyatt. Adam must infiltrate a rival firm to spy on Jock Goddard, Wyatt's former mentor, in order to secure a massive financial advantage. As Adam embeds himself within the competing organization, he finds himself caught in a dangerous conflict between the two powerful men.
The film was directed by Robert Luketic, following his work on six previous films including 21 and Killers. The cast features Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Amber Heard, Josh Holloway, and Embeth Davidtz. Produced by Relativity Media, Reliance Entertainment, Demarest Films, and IM Global, the project had a budget of 35 million USD but earned 17 million USD at the worldwide box office.
Audience reception was mixed, with a rating of 5.6/10 on IMDb based on 40,000 votes and 5.7/10 on TMDB from 930 votes. These scores are higher than the rating provided by film critics, who gave the movie a 3.9/10 based on 105 reviews.
What's left behind the scenes
- Jock Goddard's car, used by the main character, is a Fisker Karma with a hybrid powertrain.
- Almost at the end of the film, in one scene, when Adam arrives at the restaurant where Wyatt and Judith were dining, Adam grabs Judith's phone from the table and enters the password he previously peeked at her entering. He then goes to the call logs and hands the phone to Wyatt. During the handover, the camera angle changes and it can be seen that the phone screen has gone black, meaning the password needs to be re-entered, as iPhone models always require a new password after the screen turns off. However, Wyatt somehow avoids this.
