Parker is a professional thief who works to a strict personal code: he steals only from those who can afford it and avoids hurting innocent people. After a jewel heist goes wrong, the crew he planned it with turns on him and leaves him for dead. He survives, lets them believe he is gone, and sets out to take revenge by seizing the proceeds of their next big job. To do that, he adopts a new identity and teams up with Leslie Rodgers, a real estate agent with knowledge of the wealthy area where the gang is preparing its score.
The film is directed by Taylor Hackford, whose earlier features include An Officer and a Gentleman, Dolores Claiborne, The Devil's Advocate and Ray, and who here also serves as a producer alongside Steve Chasman and Sidney Kimmel. The screenplay is by John J. McLaughlin. The cast is led by Jason Statham as Parker, with Jennifer Lopez as Leslie Rodgers, Michael Chiklis as Melander, Wendell Pierce as Carlson, Clifton Collins Jr. as Ross and Bobby Cannavale as Jake Fernandez.
Produced in the United States, Parker cost around 35 million dollars and took roughly 46 million dollars worldwide. Ratings on IMDb and TMDB place audience response at a modest level, while a critics' rating of 4.8 out of 10 from 107 reviews sits below the audience scores.
