Resolution

Michael travels to a remote cabin outside San Diego after receiving a troubling video from his old friend Chris, whose drug use has left him living in isolation. Michael arrives with a plan: he handcuffs Chris inside the rundown house and intends to keep him there for a week so he can sober up. What begins as a forced intervention soon turns into something else, as strange artifacts around the cabin and unsettling figures in the area suggest that outside forces are shaping the events of that week.

Resolution is a horror, mystery and thriller directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, and written by Benson. It is the first feature in the directing pair's filmography, followed by Spring, V/H/S: Viral, The Endless, Synchronic and Something in the Dirt. Peter Cilella plays Michael and Vinny Curran plays Chris, with Zahn McClarnon, Bill Oberst Jr., Emily Montague and Kurt David Anderson in supporting roles. The production company is Rustic Films, and the cast numbers 24 credited performers.

The film received a critics' rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 15 reviews, notably higher than its audience score of 6.3 out of 10 on TMDB from 483 votes. That gap suggests reviewers responded more strongly to the film than the broader public did.
