Two young men in Oslo, Erik and Phillip, share the ambition of becoming writers. Erik's manuscript is turned down by publishers, while Phillip's is accepted and he quickly becomes a prominent figure in Norwegian literary culture. The uneven start to their careers puts pressure on their friendship and on their relationships, and Phillip struggles with the consequences of sudden success. Months later, Erik and his friends collect Phillip from a psychiatric hospital after a long period of treatment, and Erik tries to persuade him to write again.

Reprise is a Norwegian drama directed by Joachim Trier, who wrote the screenplay with Eskil Vogt. It was Trier's first feature, and he went on to direct Oslo, August 31st, Louder Than Bombs, Thelma, The Worst Person in the World and Sentimental Value. The film stars Anders Danielsen Lie as Phillip, Espen Klouman Høiner as Erik, Viktoria Winge as Kari, Christian Rubeck as Lars, Henrik Elvestad as Henning and Odd-Magnus Williamson as Morten. Karin Julsrud produced, with 27 credited cast members and 54 credited crew.

The film's budget was 22 million USD, and its worldwide box office came to 1 million USD. It holds a rating of 7.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 18,000 votes, and 7.1 out of 10 on TMDB from 269 votes. A film critics' rating of 7.5 out of 10 from 82 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
