Alien: Covenant

Alien: Covenant follows the crew of a colony ship carrying thousands of embryos toward a distant planet meant for human settlement. A malfunction forces the crew out of cryogenic sleep, and they pick up a radio signal from a nearby world with a breathable atmosphere. They decide to investigate, believing they have found an untouched paradise, but the planet turns out to be a dark and dangerous place. Its only inhabitant is David, a synthetic android who survived an earlier expedition.

Ridley Scott directed the film, working from a screenplay by John Logan and Dante Harper. It is the twenty-sixth of the thirty-four films he has directed in chronological order, coming after The Martian and before All the Money in the World. Michael Fassbender plays both David and the android Walter, alongside Katherine Waterston as Daniels, Billy Crudup as Oram, Danny McBride as Tennessee, Demián Bichir as Lope and Carmen Ejogo as Karine.

Released in 2017 and running 122 minutes, the film was produced by 20th Century Fox, Scott Free Productions and Brandywine Productions on a budget of 97 million dollars, and it earned 241 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from 343,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.2 out of 10 from 9,680 votes. A critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 408 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
