A Danish cargo ship, the MV Rozen, is seized by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean, and its crew is taken hostage. The film follows two strands that remain apart for most of its runtime. On board, the cook Mikkel and the engineer Jan are among the men held captive as conditions worsen and hopes of a quick release fade. Ashore, the shipping company's chief executive, Peter C. Ludvigsen, takes charge of the negotiations himself, trying to balance the pirates' demands against the pressure brought by the sailors' anxious families.
Tobias Lindholm wrote and directed this 2012 Danish drama, his second feature after R. Pilou Asbæk plays Mikkel, Søren Malling plays Ludvigsen, and Dar Salim and Roland Møller appear among the crew. Produced by Tomas Radoor and Rene Ezra for Nordisk Film Denmark and DR, it runs 103 minutes.
With a budget of 16 million USD, the film drew a critics' rating of 8/10 from 110 reviews, higher than its audience scores of 7.1/10 on IMDb and 6.8/10 on TMDB. It sits between Lindholm's debut and his later work, including A War and The Good Nurse.
