Leaves of Grass

Bill Kincaid is a respected philosophy professor at an Ivy League university in Rhode Island, living far from his rural Oklahoma origins. His identical twin brother Brady stayed behind and built a life around growing and selling marijuana, and when Brady runs into serious trouble with a local drug figure, he lures Bill home under false pretenses to use him as part of a scheme. Bill's return puts him in the middle of a dangerous situation involving Brady's debts and a plan aimed at the region's drug boss, while he also reconnects with the mother he left behind and a woman named Janet.

Tim Blake Nelson directed and wrote the screenplay, and produced the film with Edward Norton and Bill Migliore. Norton plays both twins, with Susan Sarandon as Daisy Kincaid, Richard Dreyfuss as Pug Rothbaum, Keri Russell as Janet, Melanie Lynskey as Colleen and Lucy DeVito as Anne Greenstein. The film sits between Nelson's earlier features O and The Grey Zone and his later Anesthesia; it is his third directorial credit, released in 2009.
