Short description
Set in the early 1930s, this drama and romance follows the Crawley family and their staff as they navigate a period of significant social and economic instability. Lady Mary takes on more responsibility for the Downton Abbey estate, balancing her role within the London elite with the needs of her family. The household must deal with financial hardships and a public scandal that threatens their social standing. As the next generation prepares to lead the estate into the future, the residents and servants struggle to adapt to the changing modern world.

What's left behind the scenes
- Joanna Frogatt, who played Anna, was expecting a baby during filming, so the filmmakers made her character pregnant as well.
- Paul Giamatti's character mentions a painting by the Italian artist Piero della Francesca (1415-1492), to which Cora (played by Elizabeth McGovern) declares that selling the painting is out of the question. In reality, the painting was sold in the 5th season of the series, which is approximately 1924, or six years earlier.
