The To Do List

Set in the early 1990s, The To Do List follows Brandy Klark, a high-achieving high school graduate who has devoted herself to her studies at the expense of nearly everything else. Facing college in the fall, she decides to make up for lost time by drawing up a list of intimate experiences she wants to get through over the summer, guided by her friends Fiona and Wendy. The problem is that she knows very little about any of it, and her attempts to work through the list lead her from one awkward situation to the next.

Maggie Carey wrote and directed the film, her first as director, and the cast is led by Aubrey Plaza as Brandy, alongside Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Sarah Steele and Scott Porter. The production brought together 31 credited cast members and 43 credited crew.

Released in July 2013, the film had a budget of about 2 million USD and took roughly 4 million USD worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 44,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.8 from about 1,100 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 from 119 reviews places it level with those audience scores.
