Adulthood follows Sam, a young man released from prison after serving six years for killing a schoolmate named Trife. Returning to his old neighbourhood, he finds that the people he hurt are waiting for him, and that settling back into ordinary life is harder than he expected. Over the course of a single day he has to face those who want revenge, while dealing with guilt and the pull of the life he left behind.
Noel Clarke directed and wrote the film, which continues the story begun in Kidulthood and was followed by Brotherhood in his filmography as director. Clarke also plays Sam, alongside Danny Dyer as Hayden, Adam Deacon as Jay, Scarlett Alice Johnson as Lexi, Shanika Warren-Markland as Kayla and Ben Drew as Dabs, among a credited cast of 47. Damian Jones and George Isaac produced the British-French production, made with Pathé, the UK Film Council and Limelight Fund.
The crime drama runs 99 minutes and was released in June 2008. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.2 out of 10 from 148 votes, a modest score that suggests a mixed response from those who have logged it.
