Big Stan

Big Stan follows Stan, a dishonest real estate agent whose fraudulent practices catch up with him and lead to a prison sentence. Terrified of what awaits him behind bars, he uses a delay before reporting to the facility to seek out a mysterious martial arts instructor known only as the Master, who trains him to defend himself. By the time he enters prison, Stan is determined to earn the respect of the inmates through fighting rather than become a target.

Rob Schneider stars as Stan in this 2007 comedy and also directs, making it the first film in his directing career ahead of Daddy Daughter Trip and Love is Love. Josh Lieb wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes David Carradine as the Master, Jennifer Morrison, Scott Wilson, Tsuyoshi Abe and Henry Gibson. Schneider produced alongside Mark A.Z. Dippé and David Hillary.

Made for about 8 million dollars, the film took roughly 9 million worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds a 6.2 from around 52,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from a much smaller pool of about 1,100. A critics' rating of 3.3 from nine reviews places it well below the audience scores.
