What's left behind the scenes
- Before filming began, director and screenwriter Christopher Bogueh organized screenings of Paul Mazursky's romantic comedy Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969) and Lars von Trier's sci-fi drama Melancholia (2011) for the film's creative team. He also asked Robert Pattinson and Zendaya (who played Charlie and Emma, respectively) to watch the drama Passion (Ingmar Bergman, 1969), the poster for which hung on the living room wall of their characters.
- At the beginning of the film, Zendaya's character reads a fictional book titled Damage, written by Harper Ellison.
