Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter Clara share a strained relationship as Morgan tries to prevent her child from repeating her own youthful mistakes. After a devastating tragedy shatters their lives, the two women must navigate their grief while uncovering long-hidden family secrets and betrayals. As they struggle to rebuild, Morgan finds comfort in an old friend and Clara forms a connection with a rebellious local boy.

Directed by Josh Boone, this drama and romance is the fourth film in his chronology, following Stuck in Love, The Fault in Our Stars, and The New Mutants.
