Amusement

Amusement follows three childhood friends, Tabitha, Shelby and Lisa, whose lives have taken separate paths but who share a traumatic past reaching back to a school days incident. A killer known as The Laugh hunts them, along with people close to them, apparently seeking revenge. The film opens with Tabitha in police custody, where a police psychiatrist questions her about the events that have left her nearly unresponsive. Her account links three stories: Shelby and her boyfriend on a night-time highway drive, Tabitha babysitting her cousins in a room dominated by a life-size clown figure, and Lisa searching with her boyfriend for a missing friend at an isolated guesthouse.

John Simpson directed the film, his second feature after Freeze Frame in 2004, from a screenplay by Jake Wade Wall. Keir O'Donnell plays The Laugh, with Katheryn Winnick, Laura Breckenridge and Jessica Lucas as Tabitha, Shelby and Lisa, and Tad Hilgenbrink and Reid Scott among the supporting cast. New Line Cinema, Macari/Edelstein and Picturehouse Entertainment produced the horror and mystery film, which runs 85 minutes.

The production had a budget of 6 million dollars. Audience response has been modest: on IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 182 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 5.6 out of 10 from 389 votes.
