Magic Magic

Alicia, a young American woman, travels to Chile for a holiday with her cousin Sarah. When Sarah has to leave for Santiago, Alicia is left behind with Sarah's friends on a remote island, among them Brink, an exchange student whose behaviour unsettles her. Alicia soon suffers from sleeplessness and a growing mental disturbance. She struggles to hold on to what is real, and when she tries to tell the others that something is wrong, they dismiss it.

Magic Magic is a thriller directed and written by Sebastián Silva, his second feature after The Maid and one of four films he has directed, followed by Madly and Rotting in the Sun. Mike White, Christine Vachon and Frida Torresblanco produced it for Braven Films, Killer Films and Rip Cord Productions. Juno Temple plays Alicia, with Michael Cera as Brink, Emily Browning as Sarah, Catalina Sandino Moreno as Barbara, Agustín Silva as Agustín and Luis Dubó as Bernardo. The film runs 97 minutes and was released in July 2013.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from 40 critics' reviews, while on TMDB it averages 5.1 out of 10 from 226 votes. The divided response suggests a film that critics received somewhat more favourably than the wider audience did.
