Short description
Bratz follows four close friends, Yasmin, Jade, Sasha and Cloe, whose bond is tested when they start high school. Each girl is drawn toward a different interest, and a social hierarchy enforced by a popular older student, Meredith, pushes them apart. The four eventually come back together to form a music group and take part in a talent show.
The film is a live-action adaptation of the Bratz doll line, directed by Sean McNamara and written by Susan Estelle Jansen. It is the seventh of the twenty-four films McNamara has directed, arriving after The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold and before Soul Surfer. The cast includes Nathalia Ramos, Skyler Shaye, Logan Browning and Janel Parrish as the four leads, with Chelsea Kane as Meredith and Anneliese Van Der Pol as Avery.
Released in August 2007 by Lionsgate and MGA Entertainment, the film had a budget of about 20 million dollars and took in roughly 26 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 3.2 from around 26,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.7 from roughly 481 votes, a gap that suggests a warmer response from that audience than from the larger IMDb pool. A critics' rating of 3.4 from 79 reviews places it in similar territory to the IMDb score. The production credits list 64 cast members and 73 crew members.

- The final screenplay for the film was written by Susie Singer, but she is not listed in the credits due to legal disputes with the Writers Guild of America. Her surname is listed on the film's final poster. Due to the same legal disputes, she is not credited as a producer. In the credits, Singer is only listed as the actress playing Barbara Baxter Dimley, the mother of the character played by Chelsea Cain. Susan Estelle Jensen is credited as the film's screenwriter.
- When Skyler Shay auditioned for the role of Chloe, she accidentally broke several items. Shay assumed she had failed the audition. However, she was cast anyway. She later learned that her character is a clumsy girl, and she landed the role largely because of her awkwardness during the audition.
- At one time, there were plans to make a sequel to the film, but those plans never materialized.
- Initially, they planned to make an animated film for theatrical release, but in the end, it was decided to film a live-action movie.
- At one point, it was proposed that Paula Abdul would serve as executive producer, costume designer, and choreographer, but this idea was discarded.
