Feast of Love

Set in a small Oregon town, Feast of Love follows Harry Stevenson, a philosophy professor who has a gift for noticing love in the lives around him. He watches as relationships among friends and neighbours form, shift and break: a café owner whose marriage comes apart, a young woman who begins a relationship with a former addict, and others whose romances take unexpected turns. Harry is regarded as an authority on the subject, though he carries a private grief of his own and only gradually recognises how lonely his wife has become.

The film is a drama directed by Robert Benton, working from a screenplay by Allison Burnett. It was released in 2007, arriving after Benton's earlier films such as Kramer vs. Kramer, Places in the Heart and The Human Stain. Morgan Freeman plays Harry, with Greg Kinnear, Radha Mitchell, Billy Burke, Selma Blair and Alexa Davalos among the cast.

Released on 28 September 2007, the film runs 101 minutes and had a worldwide box office of about 4 million dollars. Audiences are divided: it holds 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 18,000 votes and 6.2 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 271 votes. A critics' rating of 5.3 out of 10 from 113 reviews places it below the audience scores.
