Code Name: The Cleaner

Jake Rodgers wakes up in a Beverly Hills hotel room with no memory of who he is. A dead FBI agent lies nearby, and events quickly convince him that he is an undercover operative caught up in a government conspiracy. A woman named Diane claims to be his wife and tries to help him recover his past, but when her methods turn toward drugs he breaks away. He finds an ally in Gina, a real CIA agent, while a stolen computer chip and the people who want it back keep him on the run.

The film is an action comedy directed by Les Mayfield, working from a screenplay by Robert Adetuyi and George Gallo. Cedric the Entertainer stars as Jake and also produced alongside Brett Ratner and Jay Stern. The cast includes Nicollette Sheridan, Lucy Liu, Niecy Nash, Mark Dacascos and Callum Keith Rennie. Mayfield's earlier features include Encino Man, Miracle on 34th Street, Flubber, Blue Streak and The Man; this was the eighth film he directed and arrived two years after The Man.

Released in January 2007, the film had a budget of about 20 million dollars and took roughly 10 million dollars worldwide, so it did not recover its costs at the box office. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 10 from around 13,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.1 out of 10 from 275 votes. A critics' score of 3.2 out of 10 from 81 reviews places it below the audience ratings.
