Beverly Hills Chihuahua

Chloe is a pampered chihuahua living a life of luxury in Beverly Hills with her wealthy owner, Viv. When Viv leaves town, she entrusts Chloe to her niece Rachel, who then takes the dog along on a vacation to Mexico. There, Chloe becomes separated from Rachel and finds herself alone in a world far removed from spas and designer boutiques. With help from a streetwise German shepherd named Delgado and an eager young chihuahua called Papi, she sets out to find her way home while a dognapper pursues her for ransom.

Raja Gosnell directed the film, which sits seventh in his filmography, between Yours, Mine & Ours (2005) and The Smurfs (2011). The screenplay is by Jeffrey Bushell and Analisa LaBianco, and the producers include John Jacobs, David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. The voice cast features Drew Barrymore as Chloe, Andy García as Delgado, George López as Papi and Plácido Domingo as Monte, while Piper Perabo plays Rachel. Across its 91-minute runtime, the film mixes adventure and comedy with family and romance elements.

Made for a budget of 20 million US dollars, the film took in about 149 million US dollars worldwide, a strong return on its cost. Audience scores are modest: 4 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 27,000 votes and 5.4 out of 10 on TMDB from around 1,125 votes. A film critics' rating of 5 out of 10 from 96 reviews places critical response close to the audience average.
