Shrooms

A group of American college students travels to Ireland to visit their friend Jake, who takes them camping in a remote forest known for its legendary magic mushrooms. They find and eat the mushrooms, and as the psychedelics take effect, the friends begin to encounter strange and threatening figures in the woods. Tara becomes convinced she has seen a vision of something sinister stalking the group, but the others dismiss her warnings as hallucinations. As they lose their grip on what is real, they must work out whether the danger around them is genuine or a product of their own minds.

Paddy Breathnach directed the film, which sits between Blow Dry (2001) and Rosie (2019) in his filmography. Pearse Elliott wrote the screenplay, and Robert Walpole and Paddy McDonald produced. The cast includes Lindsey Haun as Tara, Jack Huston as Jake, Max Kasch as Troy, Maya Hazen as Lisa, Alice Greczyn as Holly and Robert Hoffman as Bluto. It is a co-production between the United Kingdom, Denmark and Ireland.

Released in 2007 with a runtime of 84 minutes, the film grossed around 4 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 18,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 412 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 out of 10 from 17 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores.
