National Theatre Live: Les Liaisons Dangereuses

Set in the opulent salons of the wealthy, this drama follows the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont as they use seduction and desire as tools for social manipulation. While the two initially work together to navigate their high-society environment, their partnership eventually turns into a bitter rivalry. Their conflict creates a dangerous game of lies that threatens to ruin everyone involved.

Directed by Marianne Elliott, this production was filmed live at the National Theatre in the United Kingdom. It is the second film in Elliott's directorial career, following The Salt Path from 2025. The production features a cast of 21 credited performers, led by Lesley Manville as the Marquise de Merteuil and Aidan Turner as the Vicomte de Valmont. Other main roles are played by Monica Barbaro, Darragh Hand, Cat Simmons, and Hannah van der Westhuysen. Based on an adaptation by Christopher Hampton, the film blends elements of romance and comedy over a runtime of 179 minutes.
