Superman: Unbound follows the Man of Steel as he faces Brainiac, a cybernetic being who collects the knowledge of worlds before destroying them. When Superman learns that Brainiac has shrunk and taken the Kryptonian city of Kandor, he sets out to free the captured metropolis and stop the villain from threatening Earth. His cousin Kara, known as Supergirl, fights alongside him, still carrying memories of Brainiac's earlier attack on Krypton. Lois Lane is also part of the story, and her presence pushes Clark to confront his feelings for the two women in his life.
The film is an animated DC Universe release directed by James Tucker, marking the first of the two features listed in his directing credits. Bob Goodman wrote the screenplay, and the voice cast includes Matt Bomer as Superman, John Noble as Brainiac, Stana Katic as Lois Lane, Molly C. Quinn as Supergirl, Diedrich Bader as Steve Lombard and Jason Beghe as a terrorist leader. It runs 75 minutes.
Released in 2013, the film grossed around 3 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.5 rating from roughly 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 from a much smaller pool of about 476 votes. The two scores are close, suggesting a similar response across both audiences.
