The Legend II

The Legend II continues the story of Cantonese folk hero Fong Sai Yuk, played by Jet Li. Fong becomes entangled with a secret brotherhood known as the Red Flower, which aims to overthrow the ruling Manchu emperor and restore the Ming dynasty. As he is drawn into their uprising, he struggles with the strict rules the society imposes on its members and with his own complicated love life, which involves two women presented as his prospective wives.

Corey Yuen directed the film, the seventh of the fourteen features he directed in chronological order, arriving between The Legend in 1993 and The Bodyguard from Beijing in 1994. Jeff Lau Chun-Wai and John Chan Kin-Chung wrote the screenplay, and Jet Li produced alongside Chui Po-Chu and Jimmy Lin. The cast includes Josephine Siao Fong-Fong as Miu Chui Fa, Michelle Reis as Ting Ting, Amy Kwok as Man Yin, Ji Chunhua as Yu, and Adam Cheng Siu-Chow as Chen Jia Lo. It runs 95 minutes across the action, adventure and comedy genres, produced in Hong Kong and China by Orange Sky Golden Harvest and Eastern Productions.

The film took in about 3 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.9 out of 10 from roughly 5,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of 114 votes. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from 57 reviews places professional assessments close to the audience scores.
